TeacherKit Classroom Manager App Reviews

Love the original app! Disappointed its now a paid app

I loved the original app and recommended it to all of my colleagues. After some time off from teaching, I went to set up the app for my new classes and was very disappointed to see that it is no longer free. More people downloading it so change from providing a service to making a buck. Not sure I will continue using it or recommend it again.

Unable to add new nor edit students

Always kicking me out via iPhone/ iPad.

Very helpful organizer

Facilitates communication with parents. Great tool.

Risk of lost data

Anyone using this app should know that there is significant risk of loss data. I lost the attendance for two classes right at the end of the term. That attendance was worth 10% of my students grades. I never wouldve used if I had known that my data could be lost.

This was a great app, but now its not an app I would recommend.

I used Teacher Kit when it first came out a while back (probably about 4 years ago) originally I was extremely happy with it. It was easy to use, and the app colourful and attractive. A couple of year ago they did a make over of the app. Ever since this happened I have had nothing but problems. I find the app to be a lot slower and it crashes quite a bit. I find the monthly fee for essential services you need to be ridiculous. I strongly suggest you check out iDoceo 4. Its a lot more powerful and you only pay a one time fee of $15 dollars.

My favourite Teacher app!

Ive been using Teacherkit for years now--its a must-have app for me! Theres a bit of a learning curve at first, but once you figure it out, this app is EXCELLENT! My classes, marks & assignments are easily organized (and backed up on Dropbox!). Developers are very friendly and quick to respond. HIGHLY recommended for teachers.

Exactly what I want

With over 300 students to manage, providing individual attention and support became logistically burdensome. TeacherKit lets me focus on my students and my classroom instead of on administrative necessities. Thank you TeacherKit team for saving my sanity.

Very useful

Although not perfect, this app makes life easier for teachers with many classes. The face recognition helps you creating class lists by using one group shot, but other pics can be used as well. Very nice is the class email function, once you have created the classes you can reach all students with one mail. For university use it would be nice to have more entry space for students phone numbers etc. But maybe this is yet to come. Attendance and grading are also quite easy managable. If you dont want to carry around big class files this app is for you!

upside down

I want to make desks rotate upside down. Because I always stand in front of students. Class view of teachers side is desirable.

Pretty good

It works pretty well for me. I work in a university and use it in a few classes. This works best with smaller classes though. Although there are a few points they could improve, its still a great app, especially for free. For improving, Id like to see them improve the import for class lists. Ive tried several times to import from an excel file with no success. Also the fields are hard coded for younger ages. At university Id feel really weird about asking their parents email addresses... A class photo would also be nice. I cant seem to find the data from attendance, and cant change it as far as I know later. Still, its a great program for free! I give it a 4.

Wonderful tool

I mostly use the attendance feature, and it is absolutely super. Especially for large classes, this is fantastic for quickly memorizing names and faces.

Teacher kit

Ive been using the App for a week only and already love it. Im a university teacher and still find it extremely useful. 2 suggestions though: 1. Being able to sort students with all the fields we can add would be fantastic. My students are registered by their student number not their first or last name. 2. Having more option for the grading sheet would also be great. My students get 100 points a day, I see them once a week, and I havent figured out an easy way to use the grading system with my set up.

Very nice App

Very useful more power .

Almost perfect

The ability to order classes non-alphabetically would make this app perfect

Pretty good

Heres why its pretty good: You can import a students info from contacts with whatever photo you already have set up in your contacts. You can send an email to every student at once. One touch attendance Number of absences can be seen at a glance as a badge on the photo. Bad points: Students often have more than one email address. Theres no way to input that. (Yes, theres a parents address space where you could put the info, but that means mailing out separately.) You cant populate a class with a group input. In other words, if you have 44 students in a class, youll have to import each person, one at a time. If they dont fix this, I will switch apps.

Excellent!

This program has grown a lot since its first version. I now consider it a essential part of my workflow. For example, its now a snap to take attendance, which allows me to get the class off to a flying start. The new auto-backup feature is much welcomed. I look forward to future releases. I give it four stars because I think more improvement is yet to come.

Fantastic Program

I use this program for my junior high classes. I can record grades from spelling tests to speaking tests. This application does what I need. Its a very small learning curve, very easy to use. I just wish there is a way to use existing headers for new classes instead of starting from scratch.

Excellent

Easy to use and an incredibly efficient way of doing simple class admin tasks, especially the portability factor.

Stupid Update

Used and supported this from the start. It crashed. I had to reinstall, but theyve updated it, so I cant use it on my old iPad. So if I want to use it now, I have to buy a new iPad? Wheres the old version? Make it available again!

I can no longer trust this application

After the last upgrade I lost my data for two weeks. The new version restored it, but unfortunately not my confidence in the application. This was compounded by unhelpful instructions on how to recover data that wasted my time and an explanation that it was taking so long to fix because of "a major design flaw." Somehow I didnt find that very reassuring. Had this happened at the end, rather than the beginning, of the semester it would have been disastrous. It may take a little more time to set up, but I think Ill stick to a Numbers spreadsheet from now on
